Executive Summary
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in developed countries (source: BCC Inc., August 2004) and accounts for four million deaths each year in Europe, over 1.5 million of which are in the EU (source: Heart European Network 2004). Coronary heart disease is the most common cause of death in Europe, at a rate of one in five. (Source: DataMonitor, July 2005) EU health ministers have recognised this and encouraged Member States and the European Commission to advance treatment and encourage research (source: European Commission June 2004).
As a result, this recommendation has taken root, the worldwide market for prescription cardiovascular medications, which topped US$75 billion in 2004, will surpass the US$100 billion mark by 2008 (Source: Kalorama Information, May 2005). A similar trend with devices has followed suit. Europe is the third largest regional market for cardiovascular monitoring equipment (Source: Frost & Sullivan March 2004).
Following positive feedback received from the inaugural editions of both Business Briefing: US Cardiology and Business Briefing: European Cardiology by readers, media partners and clients alike, Touch Briefings is pleased to introduce European Cardiology 2006.
European Cardiology 2006 will bring together leading industry experts in each specialised sector within cardiovascular care, in order to provide physicians, surgeons and professionals who come into daily contact with cardiac patients with comprehensive and thought-provoking information on the latest innovations and developments they require to diagnose and treat their patients effectively.
The publication will be produced with a supporting website, containing technical and specifying information from leading drug therapy and device suppliers in the European cardiology market.
