Alice K Jacobs, MD
Past President, American Heart Association (AHA)
Alice K Jacobs, MD, is Past President of the American Heart Association (AHA), a Professor of Medicine at Boston
University School of Medicine, and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories and Interventional Cardiology
at Boston Medical Center. Dr Jacobs is Vice-Chair of the American College of Cardiology (ACC)/American Heart
Association (AHA) Task Force on Practice Guidelines and was recently elected as a Council Member of the Association
of University Cardiologists. She is also a past member of the American Board of Internal Medicine Interventional
Cardiology Test Committee. Dr Jacobs’ major research interest is in coronary revascularization strategies. ■
Marjorie King, MD
Past President, American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR)
Marjorie King, MD, is Past President of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
(AACVPR), Director of Cardiac Services at Helen Hayes Hospital, and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at
Columbia University. She is also a member of Hudson Heart Associates, a cardiology practice in Suffern, NY, and is
on the Scientific Advisory Council of Healthways. Dr King served as President of the New York State Association for
Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in 1999–2000. Her academic interests include cardiac rehabilitation in elderly
patients and patients with physical disabilities, and the role of the Medical Director in cardiac rehabilitation. ■
Jack C Lewin, MD
Chief Executive Officer, American College of Cardiology (ACC)
Jack C Lewin, MD, is Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). Prior to this, he served
as Chief Executive Officer of the California Medical Association and its various subsidiary companies. Dr Lewin was
also Hawaii’s Director of Health from 1986 to 1994. In addition, he was a founder and First Director of the Navajo
Nation Department of Health. Trained in internal medicine, Dr Lewin has enjoyed many years of practicing primary
care medicine during his career in Arizona, Hawaii, and California. He received his BA in biological sciences from
the University of California, Irvine, and his MD from the University of Southern California. ■
Arthur E Stillman, MD
Past President, North American Society of Cardiac Imaging (NASCI)
Arthur E Stillman, MD, is Past President of the North American Society of Cardiac Imaging (NASCI) and Head of the
Section of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging at the Cleveland Clinic. In 2004, he was invited by the
Singapore Ministry of Health to provide advice relating to healthcare policy as their visiting expert on cardiovascular
imaging. In 2005, he was invited to be the cardiac imaging expert for a working group of the the National Heart,
Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). He has been active in a number of professional societies and has served in several
leadership roles, including Chairman of the Intervention Council of the American Heart Association (AHA). ■
W Douglas Weaver, MD
President, American College of Cardiology (ACC)
W Douglas Weaver, MD, is President of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). He also serves as Division Head of
Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of the Henry Ford Cardiovascular Institute at the Henry Ford Health System, and
as a Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University. His academic and research interests include cardiac resuscitation,
heart failure, and acute coronary syndromes. He has been an active leader of multicenter clinical trials and has published
more than 250 original articles. Professor Weaver received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine
and carried out internal medicine and cardiology training at the University of Washington. ■
