Nancy Chescheir, MD, is the Betty and Lonnie S Burnett Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Professor
and Chair at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Her primary maternal–fetal medicine (MFM) interest
is in fetal medicine and she has professional interests in medical education and domestic violence. Professor
Chescheir served as a Program Scientist at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development
(NICHD) for the Management of Myelomeningocele Study from 2002 to 2004. She completed college,
medical school, OB-GYN residency training, and MFM fellowship training at the University of North Carolina
(1973–1988) and remained on the faculty there until 2005. ■
Tommaso Falcone, MD
Professor and Chair, Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health Institute, Cleveland Clinic Foundation
Tommaso Falcone, MD, is a Professor and Chair of the Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health Institute
at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He has published over 400 articles, book chapters, and abstracts. He is a
diplomate of the American Board (Subspecialty) in Reproductive Endocrinology, as well as the American Board
of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. Dr Falcone also
serves as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Gynecologic Surgery and Fertility and Sterility, and
is Associate Editor of the Journal of Robotic Surgery. He received his medical degree from McGill University
School of Medicine in Montreal in 1981, and also completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a
fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at McGill. ■
Thomas R Moore, MD
Professor and Chairman, Department of Reproductive Medicine, and
Director, Division of Perinatal Medicine, University of California at San Diego School of Medicine
Thomas R Moore, MD, is a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Reproductive Medicine and Director
of the Division of Perinatal Medicine at the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine. His clinical
specialization encompasses all aspects of maternal–fetal medicine, especially including fetal movement,
diabetes and pregnancy, amniotic fluid volume, and fetal diagnosis. Dr Moore is a member of the Division of
Maternal–Fetal Medicine Oversight Committee of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and
Treasurer of the American Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology Foundation, and sits on the Editorial Board
of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. ■
Roger B Newman, MD
Professor and Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs and Women’s Health Research,
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical University of South Carolina
Roger B Newman, MD, is a Professor and Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs and Women’s Health Research in the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He is Past President
of the Society for Maternal–Fetal Medicine (SMFM) and a Member of the Board of the Society for Maternal–Fetal
Medicine Foundation and the Maternal–Fetal Medicine Foundation. Dr Newman serves as a member of the Nuchal
Translucency Oversight Committee, which implemented the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program. He has
received the Society of Perinatal Obstetricians Excellence in Research Award and the Faculty of Excellence Award for
Medical Student Education, and is listed among the Best Doctors in America for maternal–fetal medicine. ■
