Zoran Culig
Board Member, European Society for Urological Research (ESUR)
Zoran Culig is a Board Member of the European Society for Urological Research (ESUR), a member of the Board
of Directors of the Society for Basic Urological Research (SBUR) and an Associate Professor of Molecular Pathology
in the Department of Urology of Innsbruck Medical University. His research is focused on the role of androgen
receptor and interleukin-6 in prostate cancer. Professor Culig has published in the American Journal of Pathology,
the Journal of Pathology, Cancer Research, Oncogene, Clinical Cancer Research, Molecular Endocrinology, the
International Journal of Cancer, Prostate and other urological journals. Professor Culig has received several
prestigious awards and his research is funded by the Austrian Research Fund, the EU and industry. ■
Ian Eardley
President, European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM)
Ian Eardley is President of the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM) and a Consultant Urologist at St
James’s University Hospital in Leeds and the Leeds General Infirmary. His primary clinical interests include urinary
incontinence, andrology and reconstructive urology, while his research interests involve genito-urinary physiology
and tissue engineering. He has authored or co-authored numerous articles on his specialist areas of interest for
many peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of several international and national medical and scientific societies,
including the ESSM, the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), the European Association of Urology
(EAU), the International Continence Society (ICS) and the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM). ■
Margit Fisch
Chairman, European Society of Genito-urinary Reconstructive Surgery (ESGURS)
Margit Fisch is Chairman of the European Society of Genito-urinary Reconstructive Surgery (ESGURS). She is also
Director of the Centre of Urology and Paediatric Urology at the General Hospital, Harburg, and a Professor of
Urology at the University of Mainz. Professor Fisch is a Board Member of the German Association of Urology
(DGU), as well as Secretary of their Section of Paediatric Urology. She is also a Past President of the Society of
Genito-urinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS) and a member of the European Association of Urology (EAU).
She qualified as a doctor at the University of Saarland in 1986. ■
Vincenzo Mirone
Chairman, European Society of Andrological Urology (ESAU)
Vincenzo Mirone is Chairman of the European Society of Andrological Urology (ESAU), a Professor of Urology
and Director of the Postgraduate School of Urology at Federico II University and Head of the Urology Unit at
Federico II Hospital in Naples, Italy. He is President of the Italian Society of Urology (SIU), a Full Member of
the European Association of Urology (EAU) Section Office, Chair of the Italian Section of the European Sexual
Dysfunction Alliance (ESDA), a Full Member of the Association of Academic European Urologists (AAEU) and
an active member of many European urological societies. He is a referee for European Urology and the
International Journal of Andrology and is the author of more than 490 papers and chapters. ■
Levent H Türkeri
Board Member, European Society of Oncological Urology (ESOU)
Levent H Türkeri is a Board Member of the European Society of Oncological Urology (ESOU), as well as a
Professor of Urology in the Department of Urology at Marmara University School of Medicine. He is also Director
of the Ergun Özalp Basic Research Laboratory at the same university. He is a member of the Société
Internationale d'Urologie (SIU), the American Urological Association (AUA), the European Association of Urology
(EAU), the Society for Basic Urological Research (SBUR) and the European School of Urology (ESU), among
others. He has earned numerous awards, including the Prize of the President from the XIII Congress of European
Association of Urology for Outstanding Contribution to Urological Oncology in 1994. ■
